I have bought about 5 other 22mm chisels to punch out holes in 1/16 abs plastic. This is the only one that held up.I honestly had no business using chisels to punch out holes on this scale, but it was all I had to work with in the short term. I beat this poor tool to death and finally broke it on the second to last plastic sheet I was working on.I’m recommending this arc punch set to anyone that is looking at the competition. I previously used a generic import punch until it failed. This is a substantially better punch and yet still reasonably priced. The tip is much more durable and the punching force is much stronger. It leaves a clear deep indentation that easily keeps a drill bit centered.

Does as advertised, it makes a hole and is adjustable. Worked on plywood, pine, and fir. Didn’t have any harder scrap pieces to mess with but so far my hobby skills can see how this will work well for my mini projects.Beats hunting a hammer on a plain punch for sure.

I liked the fact that the dies were well made and seemed to be durable; I.e., the tool should last for quite a while without needing to replace the dies.I purchased the tool with the intention of punching holes into an Altoid-like box's tin lid.I did have a problem at first where the tool damaged the sheet of tin that I was punching. One problem was caused by the fact that the throat depth of the tool was just barely wide enough to fit over the lip of the tin's lid and would scratch the paint if I wasn't really careful when I inserted the tool over the lid. I also found that I needed to extend the the tip of the lower die (the one with the hole) above the surface of the tool so that it did not mangle the surface of the metal that I was punching. This meant that I had to unscrew and rescrew the bottom die for every tin that I punched to get the tool onto the lid and off of the lid. Once I did that I managed to get some fairly clean holes.You can see the "practice" tin with the dented holes in the photo along with the "carefully manipulated" tin with the cleaner holes.

I purchased this punch for use mostly with wood and some plastics. I've always use a steel punch and hammer. I always had problems making the dent where I need it. I can't look at the point and where I striking the old punch at same time. With this tool, all of my focus is making a dent where I need it. Depth in pine is excellent and not affected by wood grain. Granted, I had a very specific use for this tool, but it did the job so well, I'm extremely happy with the price paid and the quality of the tool. It's heavy and sturdy and sharp and cut right through Wood! I needed a 3/8" hollow hole punch to make my own Wood Veneer screw hole plugs. So I was looking for something that would NOT damage the punched out hole piece- because that was the piece I wanted to keep. I did NOT want the needle point piercing the center so I simply unscrewed the tip a bit and added a metal washer disc to create the gap I needed. I re-built old salvaged wood doors and I had to build a new door jamb to adjust to the smaller door size, which I wood-stained as opposed to painting. And since I needed to remove the jamb often to readjust, I fastened using removable screws, not permanent nails. Then I countersunk the screw heads and left room for a veneer wood hole plug. I bought the veneer wood at Hobby Lobby and placed it under warm water for a few seconds to soften it a bit and protect the wood from splintering during the cutting process. Then I tapped the tool with a soft mallet and Voila!! 20 perfect hole covers in minutes! After staining and sealing, they blend right in. I LOVE this tool! Lowes sells the same exact set but under a different brand name for Way more. Totally worth the money.

Hasn't let me down and makes the job quicker, woodwork or metal. I sometimes punch 2x one after the next on the same point in metal and to this day the piont has stayed true.

Finally found a good center punch. Spring loaded makes it easy to find your spot and then make the punch.
